To link in with the City of Culture 2017 celebrations, we have decided to hold a very special art event later on in the summer term. In addition to showcasing the work of our present pupils, we would really like to include work from residents across the village, especially those who are past pupils of the school.   It would be lovely to see the works you are producing now and pull all the diverse artistic talent from across the village into one place.

A maximum of two pieces of art/photography can be submitted for display per person, and we ask that you bring your work along ready to displayed on a table-top surface. To gauge interest, we would like any prospective exhibitors to email the school on the address below.

If any past pupils would like to offer musical contributions to our evening, again we would love to hear from you.   There may even be some mass community singing for those who would like to take part! Details to follow next month…

Finally, if you can offer any practical assistance in staging this event – perhaps you belong to a group that have access to display boards etc – please do get in touch.

We sincerely look forward to hearing from you, and coming together to put on a memorable evening to mark this special year.   Final times are still to be confirmed, but the school will be open to drop off work from mid afternoon onwards with the exhibition likely to run from 5.00pm.

One Response to Walkington School Art Exhibition – Thursday 15th June 2017
  1. My wife and I visited this exhibition last Thursday evening.
We expected to see some lovely pictures, but WOW! the number and standard of the students work on display was simply stunning to put it mildly!
Along with this was a fantastic team of volunteers to help guide us around around the school, plus staffing a wonderful cafe to keep us all fed and watered!
Then we found a lovely display of artworks from local artists in the hall. These again were of an incredibly high standard.
Finally, the staff lead the students and us adults in a joyful singalong.

A truly fantastic evening, and massive thanks to everyone involved in creating this delight.
