The Walkington Quiz season is moving towards an exciting conclusion with last night (20th) hosting the first semi final. The three teams challenging for a place in the Grand Final in March were The Pantomime Players, All Hallows and The Methods. As usual the our question master was Dennis Johnson with Mike Brookes keeping score. In fact, Mike Brookes also set the questions which at time had the teams scratching their heads. We had rounds on the History of Beverley, Cryptic Cats, Historical Events that took place in a January and many more. All good stuff!

The result was never really in doubt, with one team taking an early lead, and building upon their early success. So at half time the score were All Hallows 35, The Methodists 29 and the Panto Players 22. The Pantomime Players adopted their usual tactic of trying to storm to a win, in the final round, by holding back the use of their Jokers, until the last round. Although the move was successful in last year’s final, it was not to be this year, and All Hallows ran out worthy winners. The final scores were; All Hallows 62, The Pantomime Players 49 and The Methodists 47. The second semi final will be held next month.
