DAPPA’s (Drawing and Painting for Pleasure Artists) held their annual exhibition and sale on Saturday 28th September in the Methodist Church Hall. The show, now in its fifth year, was organised by Mary Wells, the Beverley based artist, and once again proved to be a huge success.

In all about 25 artists presented 125 paintings and prints for sale based on this year’s artistic theme of “Inspiration.’ The exhibition raised the sum  £600 to be shared between two charities, Parkinson’s UK and Yorkshire Cancer Research. This sum was made up from artists’ entry fees, the sale of coffee and cakes, a tombola, a donation box and artists donating 10% of sales. Mary stated, ‘I’m really pleased with the results – overall it was a very successful day all round.’

The winner of the ‘Visitor’s  Choice’ award went to Wendy Musgrave for her beautiful oil painting ‘Wild Horses’ depicting white horses running through the surf.
