Many of the clubs and societies that make our village such a vibrant place to live have had to curtail their activities in response to this awful virus. However, one group of enterprising villagers have, to use the current phrase, ‘followed the science’ or in their case, ‘followed the technology’ and continue to meet via zoom. Many thanks to Kathryn for posting this piece.

Our book group, now about 14 years old  is managing to meet on zoom. Not everyone joins us as not everyone likes zoom, but we email each month so all know which book we are reading. There are about 12 of us in the group, which is open to anyone in the village. It was originally started by Rev. Liz Allison and is loosely run by both churches.

We read a huge variety of books and enjoy a good discussion , usually with questions we find on the internet.  We meet on the first Tuesday in the month and our home is The Dog and Duck [ thanks to Jo ] but for the last nine months we have met on zoom. About 7 of us regularly join in.  In the summer we hoped to meet outdoors [ following the rules of course] but the weather seemed to conspire against us!

Our next book is “This Lovely City” by  Louise Haire and we meet on Tuesday 2nd Feb. at 7.30pm.  On 2nd March we will be discussing Barack Obama’s “A Promised Land”

Editor’s Note: Thanks again Kathryn and let’s hope your regular group meetings can resume in the Dog and Duck, later in the year.
