Christmas at the Pond WILL be going ahead!! Our annual Carol Services and the visits of Father Christmas to the pond will take place on Saturday 18th and Tuesday 21st December at 7.00 pm at the West End of the pond. Please put these dates in your diary and don’t forget “Strictly” fans – you can watch the final on catch-up!!

The magnificent steam organ will be there providing the music for the carols followed by “you know who” giving sweets to all the children. You can be assured of a warm “Walkington Welcome” to one and all and we look forward to seeing the many happy smiling faces of the children as they meet Santa.

As usual we particularly look forward to the many people who bring their children in the same way that their own parents did when they were young. We also welcome many who have moved away from the village but still look forward to their return to visit family or friends at this wonderful time of the year. We will be moving amongst you with collection tins and any donation is most welcome as we rely on your generosity to buy feed for the ducks throughout the year and maintain the Christmas lights around the pond.

Could I ask anyone who normally parks at the West end of the pond if they could help us by keeping that area clear between 6pm and 9pm on the two nights leaving room for the steam engine? Thank-you in advance for your cooperation.

My thanks to Graham from the Barrel for his generous donation for the sweets and Robin Taylor for the loan of the PA system.

We are sincerely looking forward to seeing everyone and in the meantime keep safe.

Steve Dowler – on behalf of Walkington Pond Committee
