At the previous meeting of the Eastern Area Planning Sub-Committee on 20th May, the planning application by Duchy Homes to build 31 homes at 40 Little Weighton Road, was deferred to allow the newly elected councillors the opportunity of a site visit. The visit took place on the 10th June, before the meeting of the Planning Sub-Committee that afternoon.
The Sub-Committee then heard from two speakers for and against the application and then decided to accept the recommendations in the Committee Report of 3rd June and agreed that the application be deferred pending the further consideration of two issues. The two items to be agreed fall under what is known as ‘Section 106’ requirements, namely :
1) to secure the on-site affordable housing provision, and
2) the off-site contribution towards open space provision.
Once these issues have been resolved by the Council and the Developer, the Director of Planning and Economic Regeneration is authorised to approve the planning application and the development would be able to proceed.
Editor’s Note: I have been in contact with Duchy Homes and they advise that “we are working hard with ERYC and the vendor to complete the S106 before the end of June. Once we have this in place and receive our planning approval notice our anticipated start on site (off-site highways, demolition and new access road etc) will be mid-late summer, all things going to plan.” Jonathan Millea, Head of Land for Duchy Homes Yorkshire.
