Your privacy is very important to walkington-life, the village blog. The walkington-life blog is committed to maintaining the trust and confidence of the visitors to the website. Below you’ll find information on the data that we collect from visitors and how we use it. The blog only holds information such as a username and email address for registered users. A registered user does not have to provide their real name, instead you can choose to use a nickname; however, an email address is required and stored. Although a password is required for registered users the content remains hidden. No personally identifiable information is collected from general readers.

2 What personal data we collect and why we collect it?

2.1 When a non-registered member of the blog visits the website at there is no personally identifiable data collected. This means that the blog administrator is unable to identify the visitor.  

2.2  When a blog user chooses to become a registered member the registration process will collect and store a username or nickname, a password and an email address in the user’s personal profile. Should a user decide to relinquish membership they can delete their person profile and the data stored within.

2.3 Registered members are able to leave comments attached to individual posts. The data shown in the comment and also the ip address of the user is collected. The comment will remain attached to the post for others to read and to promote further discussion. Only the comment and user name will be displayed.

2.4 When any user contacts to blog editor/administartor using the ‘Contact’ form, from the menu, a username and email address will be collected. This information will be kept for customer service purposes.

2.5 To assess the activity on the blog website  we use a third party service, Google Analytics, to collect standard internet log information and details of visitor numbers. This information is processed in a way which does not identify anyone. We do not make, and do not allow Google to make, any attempt to find out the identities of those visiting our website.

3 Cookies

3.1 Cookies are text files containing small amounts of information which are downloaded to your personal computer, mobile or other device when you visit a website. Cookies are useful because they allow a website to recognise a user’s device and can speed up the download process. 

3.2  As mentioned at 2.5 this site uses Google Analytics to track user traffic. We use traffic log cookies to identify which pages are being used. This statistical data does not identify any personal details.

4.1  if you are a registered user on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. Or, as a registered user you can delete your own personal profile.
